4.5 ton of cocaine on livestock carrier – Maritime Bulletin

Livestock carrier ORION V was intercepted by Spanish Law Enforcement agencies some 60 nm southwest of Canary islands on Jan 25 and taken to Las Palmas, as suspect in drug trafficking. On arrivila to Las Palmas, ORION V was searched and 4.5 tons of cocaine were found. The ship with cargo of 1750 cattle and 28 crew was en route from Colombia to Lebanon. All 28 crew consisting of 9 nationalities, were reportedly, arrested. Canary islands authorities refused to disembark cattle, on Jan 29 ORION V left Las Palmas, bound for Algeria.
